Lanolips 101 Ointment

So UK weather still isn't really sure if it's summer yet, but I'm hoping we're at least not going to get any more snow!  Winter for me has always meant really badly cracked lips that split and peel, and anyone who has seen my twitter knows that I was recently moaning about my lips splitting during the night.  Having seen it mentioned on other people's blogs, and having not heard of it before, I decided to do a bit of research into Lanolips 101 ointment.

Lanolips 101 Ointment
Lanolips is an Australian company that makes lips, hand and nails, and multi-use treatment products all containing medical grade Lanolin.  Lanolips 101 ointment is classed as a multi-use product. The Lanolips website says this about the ointment:

"This ultimate luxuriously creamy ointment contains 100% Ultra Pure Grade Lanolin which literally melts between your fingers. This magical multi-purpose product has multiple uses such as extremely chapped lips, dry cuticles, dry, itchy skin, dry nasal passages and more. Suitable for even the most sensitive skin."

It sounds amazing just from that, but also from reading other people's blogs.  So I decided that this may help
me escape my winter damaged lips and head for summer!

So I then had to track it down.  According to the Lanolips website, Boots stock it in some larger stores and also online, currently priced at £11.22.  My local store doesn't stock it, so I ordered it on the website for delivery into store, nice and easy and 4 days later it was available for me to collect.

I've been using it for about a week now, generally two to three times a day (definitely before I go to bed to stop them splitting while I sleep), and I have to say I am amazingly impressed with the results.  My lips which were once peeling, cracked and sore have transformed into soft, smooth and actually quite nice lips!

My lips - wearing Lanolips 101 Ointment

The ointment itself is thick; so thick you have to use a fair amount of pressure to get any out of the tube. However you don't need very much at all, and then it melts wonderfully onto your lips.  It feels thick (well the amount I apply does!) but not sticky, it has no taste or perfume, adds a gentle sheen to your lips as can be seen and is overall very pleasant to wear.

The tube itself has a flat hole for the product to come out of, not slanted like some lip glosses.  I have read on some reviews that they would prefer it if it was slanted, however the Lanolips website explains that this would not work in practice due to the ointment being so thick.  I personally do not have a problem with the applicator, as I squeeze a bit onto my finger, rub it into my lips so that it melts on, and if I have any left over I quickly rub it into my cuticles - two birds-one stone!

I've tried so many other lip-balms and treatments in the past, with the hope of finding something that doesn't cause my lips to peel more, and actually feels nice to wear, and this one beats them all!  Although it is a bit more expensive than your standard chapstick, vaseline or anything else, it definitely is a multi-use product and you also won't need to rely on multiple lip balms to achieve soft and moisturised lips.  In fact if my lips stay like this I would be more than happy to never buy a different lip balm again!  (and I think my boyfriend much prefers my lips now too!)

Bryony x

P.S I'll keep you updated on whether this remains my wonder product - or whether my lips will eventually reject this one too!

UPDATE: My lips still love this product almost 3 months on, and I'm still on my first tube - amazing!
