Boots Botanics - Rosewater Toner

I've been house-sitting for a few relatives recently, which was really fun.  It meant I was close enough to work, to be able to walk there and back, faster than catching a bus from my current home, so I got to save some money!

However, I managed to forget my face wash for the second house.  I wear makeup everyday at work, so I knew I had to buy myself one for while I was staying there.  So all-in-all it turned out to be a perfect opportunity for me to try out a new skincare product.

I turned to my trusty local Boots store, and had a wander around.  There were a lot of products that were tempting, but I didn't want to break the bank just because I had forgotten my own face wash!

I ended up getting drawn to the Boots Botanics range as it's very reasonably priced and had a 3 for 2 deal on at the time......well one thing lead to another and I ended up with six things in my basket, but hey two of them were free!

So that gave me six things to review on here!  The first one I'm going to talk about is the Boots Botanics Rosewater Toner.

The Boots Botanics range is described on the Boots website as below:

"Botanics range combines active plant extracts in carefully balanced formulations to give you the right product for your skin type," and their slogan is "The Power of Plants".

Boots Botanics Rosewater Toner - Close up
The Boots Botanics Rosewater Toner bottle says that it cleanses and refreshes...which is very true!  If you have a residual cleanser left in your pores then it does a very good job of removing any last traces of cleanser, makeup and dirt, and my skin did feel extra clean after using it.

Since I've started blogging, I've definitely become more aware of the chemicals used in products, and in my view the fewer the better! I tend not to like products with too many man-made chemicals, and this claims to be 100% organic, but as with all things like that, I don't think you can ever truly be sure unless you made it yourself!

In terms of ingredients, Boots Botanics Rosewater Toner doesn't have all that many....

Boots Botanics Rosewater Toner - Ingredients
Sorry for the slightly blurry picture, my camera doesn't enjoy trying to focus on curved surfaces!

Now you can see it contains water, alcohol, rose oil and citronellol (the scent of roses), so none of the ingredients are that bad for you.  However for those with very dry skin, you may want to stay away from this due to the astringent nature of the alcohol, which I must say you can feel slightly when you use it.

To use it, you simply pop some on a cotton wool pad, and wipe over your face.  It is a very watery toner, with quite a strong smell of roses.  For me, though it left my skin clean, it also left it a little tight, but this was corrected with my standard moisturiser.

Personally I see Boots Botanics Rosewater Toner as a good temporary toner; great if you're going away and don't want to take your expensive products for fear of leaving them behind.  It gets the job done, won't break the bank (currently £4.07 for 150ml), and does leave skin clean and clear. It also didn't irritate my sensitive skin which is always a bonus!  However the slightly drying feeling is enough to put me off using it all the time.
